Unions Early on Favorite was John Edwards

Edwards, whose corruption?? trial is underway was the early favorite of most unions with Harold Schaitberger, President of the International Association of Firefighters stating, "I'm very impressed with John Edwards because he's a candidate that comfortably uses the word 'union' and that is critical to rebuilding the middle class".

Edwards, a multi-multi millionaire participated in in 85 labor actions, joining demonstrators and organizing drives including calling on CEOs on behalf of unions in the years 2005-7.

Also, many in the labor movement appreciated Edwards appearing in the picket lines in a strike against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Union bosses also said they were impressed by the charisma of Obama but wanted to see what he says on real issues.

So Edwards was a phony and Obama is a phony but labor doesn't mind as long as they get thiers' and a little bit more no matter what shape the economy and the fierceness of the competition at home and abroad.

Did the IAM union strike Cat today in Joliet? If so, count on another possible Cat movement to a "right to work" where Illinois jobs have been heading.

Some excerpts from a column in the WSJ  dated March 8, 2007 written by Kris Maher.
